The Evergreen Project
People, animals and trees — everyone who makes Evergreen a home.

Evergreen is more than the people who live here. It is also the dogs who join every hike and every yoga class, the horses and cows of Mount Kallidromo, the birds in the acacias — and the forest itself, which shelters us all. Here are some of the beings you will meet.

From all over Europe
Young people aged 18–30 who come through the European Solidarity Corps to live, learn and build with us for weeks or months.

Passing through — and often coming back
Retreat participants, teacher trainees, families and travellers who stay with us for a while.

Hiking & yoga companions
Faithful friends who follow every walk, every class and every meal — often stretched out in the middle of the shala.

The village dog
Our beloved stray dog, who looks after the whole village of Anavra.

Neighbours on the plateau
Horses roam freely on the high meadows of the mountain — a magical encounter on many of our hikes.

Cuddle specialists
They always find the warmest lap, the softest blanket — and sometimes your shoulder.

Neighbours on the plateau
Herds graze the open meadows of the mountain in the warmer months — you hear their bells long before you see them.

Our feathery goddesses
Every spring they start laying small but super fresh eggs again — and the rooster makes sure nobody sleeps in.

Rarely seen, always there
Wild boars, foxes, birds, insects and lizards share the forest with us. We tread lightly so that they can stay.

Our roof
A magical acacia forest shelters the tents, the kitchen and the shala — shade in summer, golden light in autumn.

Elders of the forest
Oaks and pines grow among the acacias; they host birds and insects and keep the soil alive.

The mountain above
Higher up, dark forests of Greek fir cover the slopes of Kallidromo — a cool refuge on summer hikes.

Growing every season
Our permaculture garden grows a little more each year, feeding the kitchen and teaching us patience.
